FREE E-LEARNING TRAININGS

 

Education and Youth in Out-of-Home Care is designed to help you understand the educational issues and challenges faced by youth in out-of-home care. Upon completion, you will have a better understanding of the actions a CASA/GAL volunteer can take in order to advocate for educational support and services on behalf of a youth in out-of-home care.  This training is only open to CASA volunteers.  To access this training, contact your local CASA program.*  Prior registration is required. 

 

*Program Directors/ Coordinators should register volunteers by logging into www.casaforchildren.org using their program ID and password, going to "Training Staff and Volunteers," and clicking on "E-Learning Website."  Once the volunteer has been added to the training roster, they will automatically receive an email with login information.  If your program has utilized the Flex Learning Training, contact the Training Coordinator to "add a student."

 

Fostering Futures (FF) is a two-part curriculum centered on supporting youth transition into adulthood.  CASA/GAL volunteers complete modules and interactive stories before attending the in-person training session. During the in-person session, you will be asked to do a more in-depth exploration of topics covered here, such as relationship-building with older youth, the “Possible Selves” framework and working with youth as partners in transition.  To access the first half of this training, click here.  Prior registration is required.  If you have not previously registered, contact your local CASA program.*  Check their training calendar to find an upcoming FF in-person session (part 2).

Knowing Who You Are (KWYA) is a three-part curriculum for professionals in the child welfare system. Created with the direct collaboration of alumni of foster care, youth still in care, birth parents, and resource families, the curriculum helps professionals explore race and ethnicity, preparing them to support the healthy development of their constituent’s racial and ethnic identity.  To register and access parts 1 & 2 of this training, click here.  Check your local CASA program’s training calendar or contact Casey Family Programs to find an upcoming KWYA in-person session (part 3).

 

National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) Training Center is one of the leading providers of quality training for professionals working with abused children and their families. Understanding Substance Use Disorders, Treatment and Family Recovery: A Guide for Child Welfare Professionals and Understanding Substance Use Disorders, Treatment, and Family Recovery: A Guide for Legal Professionals focus on the subjects of substance abuse and child welfare; they support and facilitate collaboration between the child welfare system, the substance abuse treatment system and the courts. Continuing Education Units are available upon successful completion of a tutorial.
